Course Summary

This unit covers the competency required to undertake rescue in confined spaces, as defined in AS 2865-2009 Confined spaces, as a member of a single agency or multi-disciplinary team.

The application of this unit in the workplace covers a range of confined space rescue situations.

The unit is typically performed by personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations where confined space work is undertaken. This unit is also targeted for those who are working in a mine rescue unit working as part of an Emergency Rescue Team.

  • Option 1 – Full course: 14 hours face-to-face training. Max of 8 Trainees per course
  • Option 2– Refresher course: 12 hour practical training. Max of 8 Trainees per course

Upon successful completion a Certificate and Wallet Card (upon request) will be issued for PUASAR025A Undertake confined space rescue


**There is no legislative requirement for refresher training for any units of competency from National Training Packages. It is suggested that refresher training in confined spaces could be conducted every 3 years. This refresher training is at the discretion of the employer.

  • PUAFIR316 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident (Fire sector specific)

*Please note that ERT Fire & Rescue supplies all equipment necessary for you to undertake your training. ERT Fire & Rescue always recommend and encourage you to bring along your own equipment. Trainee’s must wear appropriate clothing that will get dirty and enclosed footwear is essential.
