HLTSS00027 – Occupational First Aid Skill Set teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response; including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This relates to potentially fatal illnesses and injuries such as those that involve cardiac arrest, severe bleeding and multiple casualty incidents etc.
This unit also teaches the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This course applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.
Participants in nominated occupational first aid or management roles can effectively establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid including first aid resources. Participants will learn about risk assessment to establish first aid requirements using checklists for equipment and first aid kits, following manufacturer’s instructions and completing documentation.
This unit should be undertaken by persons and employees responsible for the maintenance of a first aid facility and management of first aid provision in the workplace or community setting; usually those nominated in an occupational first aid or management roles.

Participants are required to re-certify every 3 years from their completion date to maintain currency. Note: HLTAID007 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation participants are required to re-certify every 12 months from their completion date to maintain this units’ currency.
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an ERT Group Pty Ltd training facility – 214 Bridge Street, West Tamworth NSW 2340.
No work placement arrangements will be required as part of this course
Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Please refer to the student handbook located on the RTO website for all details relating to rights and responsibilities including complaints and appeals.
Participants must be physically able to provide resuscitation and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
